The face behind Lost in a loop that’s me. My name is Karin van Rijckevorsel and I live in Arnhem, a green city in the Netherlands.
I have been working as a professional creative for about 30 years, in graphic design, designing fashion accessories and in my own company named Plotz (a sustainable clothing brand with graphic tees and sweaters).
Ever since I made my first repeating pattern I have been hooked. I get excited every time I see a piece of my artwork turn into something that can go on forever. While designing I can totally lose myself in the pattern and forget everything around me especially when I'm working with tessellations. A tessellation is the covering of a surface using one or more geometric shapes with no overlaps and no gaps. It is drawing and puzzling at the same time, besides wanting to make something beautiful the elements also have to be linked together. This extra challenge is what makes me love creating tessellations so much.
My style is graphic, I like clean lines and bright colors. My designs are bold and playful, and hopefully they show the attention and joy with which they were made.
